The yearly series of Lenten Lunches for the benefit of Drogheda Homeless Aid have been taking place during Lent for six years now.
On offer is a choice of tasty soups, sandwiches and tea and coffee, each Wednesday between 12.30pm to 2.30pm, in return for a suggested donation of €5 for adults and €2.50 for children.
All ingredients for the lunches and costs are completely sponsored by businesses and individuals in the local community, and as a result the entire proceeds will go towards Drogheda Homeless Aid.
Honorary Treasurer of St. Peter’s Church of Ireland, Clive Bagnall, said “we chose Drogheda Homeless Aid to be the beneficiaries of the Lenten lunches, as we are aware that their funding from the Government has been cut even further, and they are struggling to provide their services”.
In the six years that they have been running the St. Peter’s Church of Ireland, Lenten Lunches have gone from strength to strength and in that time the level of funds they have raised for Drogheda Homeless Aid has more than quadrupled.
In 2014 the fantastic sum of €13,250 has been reached.
