Drogheda Homeless Aid was established by concerned memebers of the public in 1982 and has relied heavily on the good will of the local community ever since.

All donations received, whether financial or in kind, go directly towards the running of our hostel at 35 Noth Strand and are received in accordance with standards of accepted fundraising practices.

Donate Goods

DHA provides both a food and laundry service to residents and as such is always appreciative of Donations of Goods.

These can include foodstuffs such as: Tea bags, milk, butter, sugar, bags of carrots, bags of potatoes, biscuits andd chocolate, tinned foods, curried powder, rice, and breakfast cereals. Due to HACCP health and safety regulations we are unfortunately not in a position to accept and open or undated produce; we apologise for inconvenience caused.

The following Toiletries are also appreciated:Shaving Foam, Razors, Shower Gel, Shampoo, Soap, Hair Gel, Toothpaste, Toothbrushes, Jocks and Socks. 

Support Workers

DHA currently has vacancies available for the position of 'Support Worker' under Intreo's Community Employment scheme. 

Description: The CE Support Worker position involves working 19.5 hours in our hostel supporting and assisting residents in accordance with DHA policies, as directed by the CE superviser, management team and team leader on duty. This is a developmental position with no experience necessary and accredited training provided to support your career.

Applicants must supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete a Garda vetting application form.  To be eligible for this position you must be at least one year unemployed and over 25 years of age. You can choose to sponsor our annual Sleepout and to encourage your staff to participate to the collection.

During the 2011 edition the team at Ulster Bank Drogheda placed collection buckets on all of their counters to help raise funds for the annual sponsored sleepout. The money collected in the branch reached €1,000, and then Ulster Bank very kindly provided a matching grant which doubled this amount to €2,000.

The 2012 and 2013 Sleepout was joined by representatives from IFS, a Statestreet company. Statestreet very kindly sponsored as well the sleepout to the tune of €10,500 and Coca Colas kindly donated €2,000.
